Ravenscourt Park Pre-School

Ravenscourt Park Pre-School is a warm and nurturing nursery for 2 to 5 year olds in the heart of leafy Ravenscourt Park.

Welcome to the new school year!

It seems like only yesterday that we re-opened Ravenscourt Park Pre-School under parent management, but in reality we have just welcomed new and familiar faces for our second year! The pre-school has gone through an amazing transformation in the last 18 months, and is now a fresh, welcoming and attractive space for our children to feel safe, happy and comfortable. We encourage you to take a look at our back garden if you haven’t yet - it’s been incredible over summer to see the sunflowers grow to impressive heights and see our strawberries, herbs and veggies spring into life. The children have loved watching the plants grow, as well as play on the stepping stones, mini house and sand pit.

We had a wonderful ‘graduation’ ceremony to say a fond farewell to all the children who left us to start their adventures in primary school in July. It was sad to see them go, but we know they will have an incredible time in reception.

We still have a very few places for 2-4 year olds available this year. If you’d like to enquire about part or full time places for your child, do drop us an email at ravenscourtparkpreschool@gmail.com.

And if you’re one of our parents or carers, we hope the start of the school year is going well! Please do inquire with our manager about how to get involved in the school. We can only succeed with the help and support of our parents. Whether that’s reading, singing or playing with the children, accompanying school trips, or even joining the committee, we’d love to include you.

Parties, classes and film crews!

As we prepare for opening our pre-school in September, we have been adamant that other people should be able to make use of our newly-renovated building, its large outdoor space and its wonderful park location.

So it's been fantastic that people have been using it for lots of fun and interesting reasons. In the last few weeks alone, the nursery has been used for birthday parties, family celebrations, a week-long art class, and even as a Green Room for BBC stars as they filmed in the park!

We will continue to hire out the building in the holidays, weekends and even evenings. So if you're ever looking for an affordable space for children's parties in Hammersmith or Shepherd's Bush, a venue for holding classes or lessons, or anything else, then please get in touch! Our pre-school building is spacious, light, with a big kitchen and bathrooms and large garden. It's right next to Ravenscourt Park tube station and a five minute walk from the buses of King Street, Hammersmith, or from Goldhawk Road. Plus, by hiring our building you're helping support our charity and the children who attend the pre-school.

A big week - and an opening date

It's been a total rollercoaster of a few weeks for us here at Ravenscourt Park Pre-School - we've been working around the clock to make our building the safe and happy space children need and deserve. And we've been busy getting our plans and paperwork in order so we can be approved by Ofsted as a registered provider of early years education.

Finally, our Ofsted inspection took place on Friday and consisted of a thorough inspection of our premises and a gruelling interview of our knowledge and plans. And guess what? We passed! We're elated to tell you that we're now a registered pre-school - we're so proud of this achievement by a group of busy mums!

But of course, we have not achieved this alone. We have been extremely lucky to have been able to work with the school's manager and deputy manager, who will be coming back to work for us full-time. And the group of local parents, residents and volunteers, all working hard in a variety of ways, have been absolutely incredible. We wouldn't have been able to do this without them.

We can now say for certain that our pre-school will be opening in September 2018 for the beginning of Autumn term. If you would like to enquire about our pre-school, or receive an application form for your 2, 3 or 4 year old, please email us at ravenscourtparkpreschool@gmail.com

All change!

We've had a busy few weeks here at Ravenscourt Pre-School. When we work towards our exciting re-opening, we're giving our much-loved building some very well-deserved TLC.

AS a small charity, we've been lucky enough to have had the help of some wonderful volunteers from Marks & Spencer, who have given up their time to come and help us refresh the interior of our building.

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to local decorating firm D & D Handyman, and Brewers, for kindly donating our paint and decorating tools. Without support like this from our community, we wouldn't be able to put our plans into action, so we're extremely grateful.

Very soon we'll be giving the same effort to the outside of our building too, and we're so excited to make our school look the happy and cheery place we know it to be.

We've also got grand plans for the garden - if you have ideas or want to help in any way, then do drop us a line at ravenscourtparkpreschool@gmail.com

Stay and Play!

We are very excited to let you now that while our pre-school is temporarily closed, we will be holding stay and play groups for parents and their children.

These sessions will be a fabulous opportunity to see the school, hear more about our plans, see the progress as our school gets its makeover, give us your suggestions and ideas, or just relax with a cuppa for a couple of hours!

These sessions will be 10-12 every Thursday in term time. More days may be added if there is demand.

Toys, our fantastic outside space, books, art & crafts etc will all be on offer for your little ones.

Please do tell your friends and come along!

An update

Ravenscourt Park Pre-School is temporarily closed while we undergo an amazing makeover.

It has been the plan since July 2017 that our pre-school will transfer from being run by the Pre-School Learning Alliance (the PSLA) to being parent-run, and this will be taking effect very soon!

We originally hoped to make this transition a seamless one, with no period of closure. However the PSLA sadly wanted to close the school before the committee had the right to step in. (This is mainly a result of waiting for the go-ahead from Ofsted).

However, the silver lining is that the next few weeks will be spent on making sure our school looks fantastic and is best placed to make the children's early-years education as brilliant as they are.

All our work and updates on this process will be updated here, so do check back regularly.
